Life's Journey

"If you don't use your God given gift it atrophies - Use it or lose it." my mentor and colleague used to say when we were teaching 3rd grade at our Elementary School in Karachi, Pakistan.  We used charts and pictures as visual aids to awaken fuller understanding about our topics.  One lesson was about the desert and the ultimate desert survivalist, the camel.  When I drew the camel, my colleague and mentor recognized in me a gift waiting to blossom!

My journey as an artist began there, and in subsequent years upon arriving in this part of the world, family and friends supported my unique gift to paint each scene capturing the feeling  of gentleness and serenity with their friendly critique and encouragement to paint whatever calls from my heart.

When my once in a lifetime opportunity came, I  traveled to Paris and Giverny for “Impressionism up close”, a travel study  with a group of fellow artists and instructors from the Art Institute in Paris and Bellevue College.
My life's purpose unfolds each day as an ardent artist,  stalwart friend, community catalyst, and humanitarian.  I strive to always live in the moment as a gift to experience life's joyful energy with family and friends. I am grateful for the opportunities I am given by the Creator of the Universe and the Guiding Spirit to paint the beauty of Nature for all to enjoy.

Each piece tells a story of my native Pacific Northwest environment.  Through the majestic landscape scenery of Mount Rainier, or the fine, delicate grace of  hummingbird images, the viewer experiences the peace and splendor of the Pacific Northwest’s nature.

In my book, Legacy of Art, some of the inspiration I have received is reflected in the following quote:
"O All Beautifier, who gives everything the appropriate beauty
O He who manifests the Beautiful"
List of publications:
Legacy of Art, Book of paintings

It is a tribute to my mother who was extremely adept with both oils and watercolors.  Being physically handicapped, she used the depth of her memory and imagination to paint nature scenes from home.
